Exploring the Bedrock of Faith: Insights from Hebrews 11 with Chaplain Terry Warner

Embark on a profound exploration of faith's essence with me, Chaplain Terry Warner, as we delve into Hebrews 11's sacred teachings. Discover how faith, defined as the substance of things hoped for and the conviction of unseen realities, becomes the bedrock of existence for biblical luminaries like Abel, Enoch, Noah, and Abraham. Their narratives are not just ancient texts but living testimonies to the might of unwavering belief. As we dissect these stories, we uncover the symbiotic relationship between faith and action, and the indispensable role that our words play in shaping our lives in accordance with God's design.

This episode is far more than a mere retelling of biblical events; it's an invitation to align your heart with the divine through the power of your words. So pay attention please. Let's start with Hebrews 11, verse 1. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen Verse 2, for by it the elders obtained a good report, verse 3. Through faith we understand that the words were framed by the word of God, so that things that are seen are not made, which things do appear. Hebrews 11, 1- 3. King James Version. Now let's look at Hebrews 11 and the heroes of faith. Abel's faith he offered his first sacrifice for sin, made by faith and not by works, that's Hebrews 11, verse 4. Genesis 4, verses 1 through 15. Hebrews, not Hebrews. But Exodus 2, verses 2 through 11. Exodus 12, verse 21. Exodus 50 and Exodus 14. 20 through 2 through 29. Joshua's faith it made the walls of Jericho fall. Joshua 6, verse 20. Rahab's faith she cast her lot with Israel. Joshua 2, 9 and 6, 23. Gideon's faith he became mighty in war, Judges 7 21. Barak's faith he subdued kingdoms Judges 4. Did you know that Barak would not go into battle unless he had a woman oversee him and oversee it? Samson's faith His weakness was turned into strength. Judges 16, verse 28. Jepthah's faith he defeated armies. That's in Judges 11. David's faith he obtained promises. That's in 2 Samuel 7, verses 11 through 13. Daniel's faith he stopped the mouth of Lions. That's Daniel 6, 22. Jeremiah's faith he was tortured for his faith. That's Jeremiah 20, verse 2. Elijah's faith he raised the dead. You'll find that in 1 Kings 17, 17 to 24. Elijah's faith he raised the dead. Also. 2 Kings 4, 8 to 37. Don't you know that would be something to be around when somebody's raised from the dead? Zechariah's faith he was stoned for his faith. 2 Chronicles 24, 20 and 21. Isaiah's faith he was sawed in two for his faith. According to tradition, if you harbor ill will, hurtful words or unforgiveness, you are allowing the devil to come in and nullify your prayers. Let me back up there. Sorry, I got ahead of myself. So we see that faith is the stuff that holds the powerful words together. Actually, all words are powerful and they bring about a physical manifestation. This substance, or faith, is so powerful that God said everything in place and continues to do so. Jesus said it is the spirit that quickens or comes to life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life. John 6, verse 63. Now, in the beginning was the Word, that's God, the Father, and the Word was with God, that's Jesus, and the Word was God, that's Holy Spirit. The same, within the beginning, with God, all things were made by Him and without Him was not anything made. That was made In Him, that's talking about Jesus was life and the life was the light of men. In the beginning of the word. In the beginning was the Word, that's Christ, that's John 1, 1- 4. So we can see that God is saying that words created in the heart of God Proverbs 4, verse 30, are what specifically formed and started everything. These words continue to produce their specific traits or what they are carrying as they are spoken out, to produce their desired result. There is an old saying that goes something like this a drunken thought is a spoken word. Well, the Bible can do better than that. Look at Matthew 12, verses 34 to 37. 34. Jesus is talking to the leaders of the synagogue, old generation of vipers. How can you be an evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. 35. A good man, out of the good treasure of his heart, brings forth good things, and an evil man, out of the evil treasures, brings forth evil things. 36. But I say unto you that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give an account thereof in the day of judgment. Verse 37,. For by your word you shall be justified and by your word you shall be condemned. Now where I was a while ago, if you harbor ill will, hurtful words are unforgiveness. You are allowing the devil to come in and nullify your prayers, mess up your prayers and put you under the devil's curses All the time. God is prevented from coming into your heart and straightening your life out. It is true that no man can tame the tongue. James 3, verses 7 to 12. However, the Holy Spirit can, if you will cooperate with Him, because God cannot lie. We can depend on the Bible being in errant words by God Almighty. Using the word Jesus and the movement of the Holy Spirit causes everything to operate and function in the creation that God set up, because God is love. We are part of that creation, since we were made in the image and likeness of God. Our words come out of our heart. They don't come out of our brain. Not fleshly are what we see, but as a spiritual individual created in his image and likeness. If we have not given our hearts to God, then we are actually dead men walking around Our spirit. Man is dead. Once we accept into our hearts Jesus Christ, we are born again, are recreated into the image of and the likeness of God and made righteous by God. 2 Corinthians 5, 21,. John 3, 16, Romans 10, 9 and 10. In other words, we are redeemed from spiritual death, sin, sickness, poverty, diseases and anything that would try and separate us from God. We are also expected to speak and walk in love. We are expected to love our enemies, the people we don't like or even agree with. If they are not a Christian, then we need to pray that they become or come to a relationship or a Christian or come to Jesus Christ. If they are a Christian, then we should be treating them with love in our heart, letting God, the Holy Spirit, leading them into the right or light of His truth and victory. We operate far below our potential that God has made available because we don't know or understand His Word. I don't care what problem you run up against, the Word of God coming out of your mouth is strong enough to correct anything in your life and bring it into conformance to God's Word and Directives. Proverbs 18, 21,. Out of the Heart Come the Issues of Life. Think your words don't matter. Then why do we have pep rallies, cheerleaders, greeting cards, positive thinking or comforting words for those grieving? Let's just get the people to cheer in a different language and see how much enthusiasm you can generate for your sports team. Let's tell how no good and ineffective people are. If the words don't matter, it won't make any difference. The truth is, it will make a lot of difference in your outcome in life. That is why God must be love, because everything works and operates by love, especially by the words we as believers speak. I was giving a sermon one morning, Sunday morning, in Wiley, Colorado, at the Brethren Church. And all the time I'm speaking my sermon and the Holy Spirit spoke to me and said Terry, when you pray to me, how do you hear, how do you think I hear your prayers? I thought to myself I don't know, you got a loudspeaker up there in heaven. You got this, you got that. You're God. You can hear everybody praying at the same time and tell the difference of who's who, who's praying and everything I don't really know. Well, he says when you hear me talk to you, how do you hear me? I said, well, that's easy, I hear you in my heart. I hear you in that still small voice in my heart. And the Holy Spirit hesitated a minute all the time I'm still preaching. And he hesitated and was quiet and he says that's exactly how I hear you. I hear the words that come out of your heart that you say to me in love, and I act on them when they are done properly. So, friend, you've heard a pretty stiff sermon this morning about your words and about your actions. Because you get your words in line, everything else will follow suit. It's your life in the pits. You got problems, you're in debt. You're sick, you're not doing very good, you're struggling, your marriage is on the rock, whatever, whatever you got, you're trying to quit some bad habits. You're running too in fro and you're going as fast as you can and working hard as you can and you're tired, you're exhausted, you're frustrated and nothing seems to work. Get on your knees and I don't necessarily. If you can't get on your knees physically, get on your knees in your heart. Confess your sins to God, ask Him to forgive you and cleanse you of all unrighteousness and clean that heart of yours out. Where you can live and walk in divine health and prosperity. Where everything you set your hand to do prospers. Where you're more than a conqueror through Jesus Christ, where you can do all things through Jesus Christ, who gives you strength. Excuse me, get on top of it and start living for Jesus, and start right now. You have a blessed day in Jesus' name, amen. This has been Chaplain Terry Warner.
